The Colorado College women's tennis team nearly rallied from a 3-0 deficit, but fell just short in a 5-4 loss to Linfield University Sunday in McMinnville, Ore.
 
The Wildcats jumped out to an early 3-0 lead by sweeping the three doubles matches, including an 8-7(6) victory by Taryn Fujimori and Emma Tuttle over Christina Heffron and Gigi Jensen at the No. 2 spot.
 
In singles play, Heffron, Jensen and Magdalene Gonzales each won in three sets, but Linfield won the Nos. 2 and 3 matches to clinch the team match.
 
Heffron defeated Fujimori, 6-7(3), 6-3, 7-6(4), at the No. 1 position, Gonzales downed Allena Wong, 6-4, 2-6, 1-0(6) at No. 4 and Jensen beat Emma Tuttle, 7-5, 2-5, 1-0(12) at No. 5. Malia Rivera easily won the No. 6 match, 6-1, 6-0, over Lisa Ponti.
 
The Tigers return to action on Sunday, March 27, for their final match of the spring break trip on Monday, March 27, against Willamette University in Salem, Ore., beginning at 12 pm (MT).
