Air Force infielder Wyatt Hanoian was named Mountain West Freshman of the Week, conference officials announced on Apr. 13. This is Hanoian’s second weekly award this season and marks the fourth overall for the Falcons.
The recognition highlights Hanoian’s strong performance as a freshman and his continued impact on Air Force’s baseball team. His offensive contributions have played a significant role in the team’s recent success.
Hanoian, who is from Costa Mesa, California, leads Air Force with a .369 batting average, totaling 35 runs on 41 hits and driving in 32 runs batted in so far this season. During Air Force’s undefeated week—which included a sweep over Fresno State—he hit .533 with eight runs scored and eight hits while posting a team-best .632 on-base percentage. He recorded at least two hits in every game during that stretch.
In one standout performance during the series opener against Fresno State, Hanoian went three-for-four at bat, stole two bases, and drove in two runs. In the final game of the series—a come-from-behind victory—he scored three times on two hits to help keep Air Force among just two NCAA Division I teams still undefeated at home.
The award underscores both individual achievement by Hanoian and ongoing momentum for Air Force baseball as they continue their season.
