Junior Dominik Wasik and freshman Cole Christian have received weekly honors from Atlantic Hockey America after their performances helped the Air Force hockey team sweep Sacred Heart on January 30 and 31. Wasik was named Goaltender of the Week, while Christian earned Rookie of the Week.
Wasik, who is from Superior, Colorado, allowed only two goals on 51 shots during the series, finishing with a .961 save percentage and a 1.00 goals-against average. He recorded his second career shutout by making 21 saves in a 2-0 victory over Sacred Heart on January 31. Over four games against Sacred Heart this season, Wasik has posted a 1.25 goals-against average and a .957 save percentage. He has started 21 consecutive games and currently ranks fifth in the league for goals-against average (2.45) and sixth in save percentage (.910).
Christian, from Duluth, Minnesota, registered two points (one goal and one assist) in the series against Sacred Heart, along with three shots on goal, one blocked shot, and a +2 rating. In the first game—a 5-2 win—he achieved a career-high two points and scored his first career game-winning goal in the third period. He also provided the primary assist on Air Force’s fifth goal to secure the victory.
The latest recognition marks Wasik’s third weekly award of both this season and his career. For Christian, it is his first collegiate weekly honor. These awards bring Air Force’s total to nine weekly conference honors this season.
Air Force holds an overall record of 13-11-2 (9-8-1 AHA) and will travel to Niagara Falls for a two-game Atlantic Hockey America series against Niagara University on February 6 and 7.
