UConn secured a 26-16 victory over Air Force on Saturday, November 15, in East Hartford, Connecticut. Running back Cam Edwards led the Huskies with 165 rushing yards and two touchdowns.
The game began with UConn scoring on its opening drive. Quarterback Joe Fagnano finished the series with a 10-yard touchdown run, but a mishandled snap on the point-after attempt left the score at 6-0. Air Force responded later in the first quarter when fullback Dylan Carson completed a 10-play, 75-yard drive with a six-yard touchdown run. After converting the extra point, Air Force took a brief 7-6 lead.
Air Force was stopped on fourth down during its next two possessions. The second stop followed a lengthy 19-play, 91-yard drive that lasted nearly twelve minutes but ended when quarterback Liam Szarka was tackled at the two-yard line. UConn closed out the first half with a field goal to take a 9-7 lead into halftime.
In the third quarter, UConn extended its advantage as Edwards scored on an eight-yard run after a six-play, 79-yard drive. Air Force senior Reagan Tubbs narrowed the gap with a 36-yard field goal late in the third quarter. UConn added another field goal early in the fourth quarter to make it 19-10.
With just over five minutes remaining in the game, Edwards scored his second touchdown of the day to give UConn a 26-10 lead. Carson scored again for Air Force on a two-yard run late in the fourth quarter to reach the final margin of 26-16. Air Force’s attempt at an onside kick failed, allowing UConn to secure its eighth win of the season.
Air Force (3-7 overall) will play its final home game of the season against New Mexico on Saturday, November 22 at Falcon Stadium.
