Air Force senior Texas Tanner began the 2025-26 track and field season by setting two new school records at the Wyoming Power Meet in Laramie on December 6. Tanner, who is from Wyoming, surpassed his own previous marks in both the shot put and weight throw events.

In the weight throw, Tanner achieved a distance of 24.18 meters (79’3¾”), which was more than 10 feet ahead of any other collegiate competitor. This throw improved his previous Air Force and Service Academy record by over two feet. Later in the day, he broke his own shot put record with a third attempt of 19.77 meters (64’10¼”), extending his program and academy records by more than a foot and finishing four feet ahead of the next closest athlete among 17 competitors.

Tanner’s performances also set new Senior Class Records for Air Force. He added over 10 feet to Cooper Stroka’s weight throw mark from earlier in 2025 and nearly three feet to Grant Hamilton’s shot put record, which had stood since the 2016 outdoor season.

On the women’s side, sophomore Morgan Glaser repeated as high jump champion with a clearance of 1.77 meters (5’9½”). Freshman Julie Segroves won her first collegiate pole vault competition with a height of 3.95 meters (12’11½”), tying for sixth-best in Academy history and leading an Air Force sweep of the top two spots; sophomore Barrett Boyd finished second at 3.50 meters (11’5¾”). Junior Kayla Beach placed fourth in long jump with a mark of 5.70 meters (18’8¼”).

For the men, freshmen Chris Atunku and Max McFarlane both finished second in their debut meets—Atunku matched the best high jump clearance at 1.93 meters (6’3¾”) while McFarlane cleared 5.03 meters (16’6″) in pole vault, equaling the top result for that event. Teammates Max Austin, a freshman, and junior Tanner Woodring each cleared 4.88 meters (16’0″) to tie for third place.

Air Force athletes also reached podium positions on the track despite limited entries: sophomore Asher Jenkins was second in the men’s 55-meter sprint with a time of 6.28 seconds, while freshman Matthew Secrist took third in the hurdles at 7.76 seconds.

The team will take a break for finals and holidays before returning to competition at the Potts Invitational in Boulder on January 16-17.
