Texas Tanner finishes fifth in discus at USATF Outdoor Championships

Texas Tanner, a junior athlete with the Air Force track and field program, achieved a fifth-place finish in the discus throw at the Toyota USATF Outdoor Championships held in Eugene, Oregon. Tanner was the only collegiate competitor to reach the finals in this event on August 2. On his last attempt, he threw 62.92 meters (206’5″), moving into fifth place at the national championship.

Earlier in the competition, Tanner also secured a top-10 result in the hammer throw. He recorded a distance of 73.43 meters (240’11”) and finished tenth.

Sam Gilman, a former standout for the Falcons and now part of the Air Force World Class Athlete Program (WCAP), also competed at Hayward Field during the championships. Gilman completed the 5000-meter run with a time of 13:33.59, earning him fifteenth place.
