Air Force senior Texas Tanner has been named the Men’s Field Performer of the Meet at the Mountain West Indoor Track and Field Championships. The announcement was made by the conference office on March 4, following last week’s championship meet.

Tanner is recognized for his consistent performance, having previously earned this award at the last two Mountain West Outdoor Championships. He becomes the first Air Force athlete to win Performer of the Meet honors three times in a career, surpassing Jamiel Trimble’s previous record of two.

During the recent championships, Tanner won both throwing events. He secured his first weight throw title with a mark of 23.31 meters (75’5¾), which was nearly two meters ahead of his closest competitor and stands as the second-best throw in conference championship history. He followed this with a shot put victory, recording a distance of 19.18 meters (62’11¼), marking the best throw at the event in eight years.

“Texas Tanner, Men’s Field Performer of the Meet,” stated the official awards list from the Mountain West.

The Falcons received nine all-conference accolades at this year’s championship meet, led by Tanner’s two titles. On the women’s side, junior Liliane Aittama finished second in the 800-meter run while sophomore Morgan Glaser took second place in high jump. Camryn Bodine placed third in the 800-meter run, bringing Air Force’s total number of all-conference runners in that event to five; Aittama also earned her second all-Mountain West honor after placing third in 2024. Glaser became only the fourth Air Force woman to earn an indoor high jump honor. In addition, Ella Pears along with Rachel Fereday, Scarlet Fetterolf, and Anna Harden claimed bronze medals in the distance medley relay—marking Air Force’s tenth podium finish for that event.

For men’s events beyond Tanner’s victories, senior Jettason Rose was runner-up in the 200-meter dash—earning Air Force its nineteenth indoor medal for that race—while Jayden Nats finished third in the 3000-meter run and junior Tanner Woodring tied for third place in pole vault. Nats’ result marked Air Force’s seventeenth all-conference finish at 3000 meters; Woodring’s medal brought their total number of indoor pole vault podium finishes to twenty-one.

The indoor season will conclude next weekend (March 13-14) when Texas Tanner represents Air Force at the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships in Fayetteville, Arkansas.
