Lamborn supports $883 billion defense act focusing on security and servicemembers

Washington, D.C. - Congressman Doug Lamborn, who serves as Chairman of the House Armed Services Strategic Forces Subcommittee, voted in favor of the Senate amendment to H.R. 5009. The bill, known as the Servicemember Quality of Life Improvement and National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2025, passed in the U.S. House of Representatives with a vote count of 281 to 140.

The legislation allocates $883.7 billion towards national defense and includes several provisions championed by Congressman Lamborn. He expressed his support for the bill stating, "Today, I gladly cast my vote in support of the cornerstone legislation crucial for our national security and the well-being of our service members."

Congressman Lamborn highlighted that the bill addresses necessary improvements for servicemembers while ensuring national defense amidst global security challenges. He noted his role as Chairman involves overseeing nuclear enterprise, missile defense forces, and military space capabilities.

The FY25 NDAA emphasizes advancements in hypersonic technology and enhancements to missile defense systems to address threats from adversaries. It also focuses on strengthening nuclear deterrence and securing military capabilities in space to maintain American dominance.

Furthermore, the legislation authorizes resources to restore nuclear production infrastructure under the National Nuclear Security Administration's oversight. It also restricts nationals from China, Russia, Iran, and North Korea from accessing U.S. nuclear testing facilities.
