Washington, D.C. – Congressman Doug Lamborn attended a workshop hosted by the Hudson Institute and the Space Foundation to discuss the future of the American hypersonic missile program. The event featured remarks from Space Foundation CEO Maj. Gen. (Ret) Heather Pringle and Rebeccah Heinrichs, Senior Fellow and Director of the Keystone Defense Initiative at the Hudson Institute. Congressman Lamborn delivered a keynote address followed by a Q&A session.

"My position as Chairman of the House Armed Services Strategic Forces Subcommittee has allowed me to gain unique insight into some of the nation’s most pressing threats and the development of technological sectors across the defense landscape. I have fought hard to ensure the United States stays at the forefront of advancements in warfare, and I have sounded the alarm in areas where we are falling behind. We must correct this downward trajectory now. My future hope is that events like today’s will continue and that we will one day be the leaders in hypersonics," said Congressman Doug Lamborn.

Maj. Gen. (Ret) Heather Pringle emphasized hypersonic technology's importance for both defense and technological innovation: "When applied to space, hypersonics are a critical leadership element for our defense and for driving further technology innovation."

Congressman Don Bacon highlighted progress while acknowledging ongoing challenges: "We've made significant progress in technology development, but more must be done to advance hypersonic weapons technology, especially in fielding defensive capabilities for hypersonic weapons and developing our industrial base and test infrastructure."

Congressman Donald Norcross discussed potential threats from adversaries: "We must bolster our supply chain and industrial base to handle the complexity and durability needed for hypersonic missiles and other critical technologies."

Representative Vince Fong spoke about commercial developments: "Getting to speak about innovative developments being done in this industry in my district was an important part of demonstrating technologies advancing the space market."

Congressman Pat Fallon pointed out international competition: "As China and Russia continue to expand their hypersonic capabilities, it is crucial that our nation updates its defense systems to combat these modern threats."
