Census Bureau: 9.7% of people in El Paso County identified as multiracial in 2021

Of the 722,736 citizens living in El Paso County in 2021, 90.3% said they were only one race, while 9.7% said they were two or more races, according to U.S. Census Bureau data obtained in June.

The most prevalent racial group among citizens in El Paso County who reported being of a single race in 2021 was white, comprising 76.2% or 550,813 individuals. Following them, African American accounted for 6.1% and totaled 44,429 individuals.

The percentage of multiracial residents in El Paso County is 1.3% higher than the state average, which stands at 8.4%.
