Previous Blotter #32422

On 06/25/23 at 1438 hours, the Colorado Springs Police Department received a report of one car vehicle crash on southbound I-25 just South of the Cimarron exit. The vehicle was traveling southbound and appeared to veer to the right and then crossed all lanes to the left and striking the center-raised median barrier. The driver of a vehicle was immediately transported to a local hospital for life-threatening injuries. The driver later died from his injuries. Based on this information, the Colorado Springs Police Department’s Major Crash Team responded to the scene and assumed responsibility for the investigation. I-25 was diverted for southbound traffic for several hours while investigators processed the scene. The driver of the vehicle did not appear to be wearing a seat belt and impairment may be a contributing factor, but the investigation is ongoing.
