Driver Identified from Crash at Dublin Boulevard and Red Jewel Drive

Update

On Wednesday, June 21, 2023, the El Paso County Coroner’s Office conducted an autopsy of the deceased driver. The driver has been identified as 45-year-old Colorado Springs resident Dau Long. Speed and alcohol are being investigated as possible contributing factors to this crash. This is the 23rd fatal traffic crash in Colorado Springs this year. At this same time last year, there were 21 traffic fatalities in Colorado Springs. In the past 365 days, there have been 58 traffic fatalities in Colorado Springs.

On 06/20/22 at 2152hrs, CSPD was notified of a single-vehicle crash at the intersection of Dublin Bl. and Red Jewel Dr. The vehicle was traveling westbound on Dublin Bl. approaching Red Jewel Dr. The vehicle lost control and struck the median and southern street curb. This impact caused the vehicle to roll, and the vehicle came to rest on the southern sidewalk of the eastbound traffic lanes. Witnesses on the scene notified the police and attempted life-saving measures until emergency personnel arrived. The driver died on the scene as a result of this traffic crash. Based on witness statements and evidence, speed appears to be a contributing factor.
