On Monday, June 26, 2023, the El Paso County Coroner’s Office conducted an autopsy of the deceased female, identified as 48-year-old Nancy Mascarenas, from Clovis, New Mexico. While the Coroner’s Office will determine the cause and manner of death, it is being investigated as a homicide.
This is the 13th homicide in the City of Colorado Springs in 2023. At this time last year, there were 26 homicides investigated. A photo of the victim was provided by the family.

On 06/23/23 at approximately 0307 hours Officers from the Colorado Springs Police Department were notified of shots fired in the area of 1500 E Boulder St. Officers responded to the area and found a deceased adult female with a possible gunshot wound. Detectives from the homicide unit responded and assumed responsibility of the investigation. At this time no arrests have been made.
