On Saturday, June 10th, 2023, at approximately 8:35 p.m., the Colorado Springs Police Department received a report of a shooting in the 100 block of Frost Lane. Upon arrival, officers located a juvenile male who was deceased. The Homicide Unit responded and continued the investigation. A suspect has not been arrested at this time.

On Monday, June 12, 2023, The El Paso County Coroner’s Office conducted an autopsy of the deceased male, identified as 16-year-old, Izak Jasso, of Colorado Springs. Izak was a student at Mitchell High School. While the Coroner's Office will determine the cause and manner of death, the death is being investigated as a homicide.

This is the 11th homicide in the City of Colorado Springs in 2023. At this time last year, there were 25 homicides investigated. A photo of Izak was provided by the family.

This is still an active and ongoing investigation. Anyone with information or who is a witness to this investigation is asked to call the Colorado Springs Police Department at (719) 444-7000; or if you wish to remain anonymous, you may call the Crime Stoppers Tip Line at (719) 634-STOP (7867) or 1-800-222-8477.
