COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – New Mexico senior Peyton Robinson has been tabbed Mountain West Player of the Week, while teammate Amber Linton has earned MW Pitcher of the Week. MW Freshman of the Week honors are awarded to Boise State’s Sydney Groves. 

This is Linton’s second MW weekly honor and first for Robinson and Groves.

PLAYER OF THE WEEK

PEYTON ROBINSON, NEW MEXICO

Senior, OF, Saginaw, Texas/Boswell High School

  • Helped the Lobos to a 3-2 week with wins over Buffalo (6-0), Manhattan (7-6, 9 inn.) and Buffalo (4-1) a second time. 
  • Posted a .588 batting average in 17 appearances at the plate on the weekend with a .647 slugging percentage.
  • Scored four runs and batted one runner in. 
  • Recorded four stolen bases.
  • Logged three sacrifice hits to advance the Lobos. 
PITCHER OF THE WEEK

AMBER LINTON, NEW MEXICO

Junior, RHP, Franklin, Indiana/Roncalli HS

  • Helped New Mexico to a 3-2 week, appearing in wins over Buffalo (6-0), Manhattan (7-6, 9 inn.), and Buffalo (4-1).
  • Posted a 0.41 ERA in 17 innings pitched, striking out 20 and only allowing 1 hit on 64 batters faced.
  • Pitched a complete game shutout over Buffalo to open the week.
  • On the weekend, held opponents to a .172 batting average. 
FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK

SYDNEY GROVES, BOISE STATE

Freshman, 1B, Meridian, Idaho/Eagle HS

  • Helped Boise State go 3-0 on the weekend, starting all three games against Portland State. 
  • Registered a grand slam in the Broncos second win over Portland State (10-2).
  • Logged six runs and batted in 10 runners on the weekend.
  • Recorded a .556 batting average, .636 on-base percentage, and a 1.556 slugging percentage.
