San Diego State Leads After Day Two of the 2023 MW Swimming & Diving Championships

Following the conclusion of day two of the 2023 Mountain West Swimming & Diving Championships, San Diego State has begun to pull away from the field with 663 points followed by UNLV (436) in second. The Aztecs, who took home gold in four events on Thursday, are seeking their fourth championship in the last five years.
 
Nevada sophomore diver Lucia Gabino, who took gold in the 3-meter springboard, is the first diver to win MW titles in both the 1-meter and 3-meter in the same championship since 2018 (Nevada’s Sharae Zheng).

Swimming
500-Yard Free Style: Wilma Johansson, San Diego State; 4:46.13 (NCAA B-Cut Time)
200-Yard Individual Medley: Kristina Murphy, San Diego State; 1:57.69 (NCAA B-Cut Time)
50-Yard Freestyle: Meredith Smithbaker, San Diego State; 22.47 (NCAA B-Cut Time)
400-Yard Medley Relay: San Diego State, 3:35.20.
 
Diving
3-Meter Springboard: Lucia Gabino, Nevada, 375.25 (NCAA A-Zone)
 
Day three of the 2023 MW Swimming & Diving Championships continues Friday morning at 10:30 a.m. CT with the 400-yard individual medley in Houston at the University of Houston’s Campus Recreation & Wellness Natatorium.
