For the 14th consecutive year, the Colorado College men's and women's track and field teams earned the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association's All-Academic Team award.
Colorado College, the University of Dallas and Trinity University were the only institutions from the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference to have both teams recognized for the 2021-22 season. CC topped the SCAC in grade-point average for both teams, with the women posting a 3.73 GPA and the men a 3.66 GPA.
To earn the All-Academic Team award, the cumulative GPA of all student-athletes who used a season of eligibility must be at least a 3.1 on a 4.0 scale through the most recent semester/quarter.
In addition, rising senior Kendall Accetta and sophomore Elliot Singer from the women's team and recent graduate Josh Fry from the men's team were named All-Academic Athletes by the USTFCCCA.
"It is nice to see both programs and 3 individuals get recognized for their hard work in the classroom as well as on the track," head coach Katie Bretscher said. "This is an award that we aspire to earn every season."
Accetta became the first Colorado College track athlete to earn All-America honors since 2017 after a seventh-place finish in the 3,000-meter steeplechase final at the 2022 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships. Accetta smashed her own school record by 16 seconds, posting a time of 10:40.21. She has a 3.93 grade-point average.
Singer, the SCAC champion in the 5K and 10K at the SCAC Championships, had the nation's 46th and 39th best times in those races, respectively. She posted a 3.96 GPA in her first year at CC.
Fry received his bachelor's degree in physics in May with a 3.38 grade-point average. He had the 30th fastest time in the 1500 meters and 49th in the 800 in Division III this past season and advanced to the NCAA Division III Track and Field Championships in both events as a junior.
For the All-Academic Athlete award, a student-athlete must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.2 and finish the season among the top 50 individuals as listed on the descending order lists on TFRRS.
