Tigers Fight Hard But Fall to Southwestern in SCAC Semis

Colorado College Athletics recently issued the following announcement.

The Colorado College men's tennis team put up a valiant effort on Saturday but fell to Southwestern University, 5-1, semifinals of the 2022 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Championship in Kerrville, Texas.

The Pirates jumped out to an early 2-1 lead after the doubles matches. Jack Delafield and Andrew Kaelin scored an exciting 8-7(3) victory over Vesko Leskovic and Hemanju Rambojun at the No. 1 position. However, Alex Kley and Lucas Pastor lost the No. 2 match, 8-3, to Hunter Bajoit and Stephen Tibbets, while Jacob Adas and Nate Beerman fell to Oscar Roy and Carlos Esteban, 8-4, at the No. 3 spot.

Southwestern kept the momentum in singles, and the team match was over once the Pirates claimed three wins. Bajoit defeated Aiden Little, 6-3, 6-0, at the No. 1 spot, while Tibbets downed Kaelin, 6-4, 6-1, at No. 2. Roy clinched the team match with a 6-1, 6-4 victory over Beerman at the No. 5 spot.

The third-seeded Tigers (12-11) will face No. 4-seed University of St. Thomas in the third-place match on Sunday, May 1, beginning at 8 a.m. (MT).
