University of Colorado Colorado Springs issued the following announcement on Oct. 30.
As Chancellor Reddy announced earlier this week, UCCS will provide an update on the COVID-19 situation at UCCS each Friday. Below is a summary of the latest information, including answers to some of the more commonly received questions.
El Paso County Dial Moves to Safer At Home: Level 2
As El Paso County prepares to elevate its COVID-19 dial from Safer At Home: Level 1 to Safer At Home: Level 2, those spending time on campus will see some changes. Personal gatherings are limited to 10 people while maintaining social distancing. Dining halls will operate at 50 percent capacity with a 50-person cap, and the Recreation Center will operate at 25% capacity with a 50-person cap. The Kraemer Family Library will remain open with all services available at 50 percent capacity. Office capacities and classroom modes of instruction will remain the same.
COVID-19 Ready Dashboard (through Oct. 29, 2020):
- In the last week, 10 diagnostic tests were performed through the UCCS Wellness Center.
- In the last week, nine people have reported a positive test result for COVID-19. Those are a combination of tests conducted on campus and at community testing sites.
- Since the beginning of the fall semester, 55 total COVID-19 cases have been reported among faculty, staff and students, including among those who have not been on campus this fall.
Housing: UCCS is planning to resume a flexible, in-person experience for the spring 2021 semester. Therefore, students do not need to move out if they plan to remain at home after Thanksgiving and return to their on-campus residence in the spring. However, make sure you take anything with you that you may need for the two-month span. Access to the residence halls is limited during the winter break, so if you stop by campus in between the semesters, you may not be able to enter your room.
Testing updates:
- UCCS received its rapid antigen testing equipment and now has the ability to perform 15-minute tests for students only in the Wellness Center. Faculty and staff will still need to use a community testing site.
