Colorado Springs issued the following announcement on June 5.

The City of Colorado Springs is partnering with El Pomar Foundation to offer expanded summer employment opportunities. Through more than $80,000 of grant funding provided to the Parks, Recreation and Cultural Services department, 24 additional seasonal staff will be hired to support summer camps, sports programming and serve as facility attendants.

“The City of Colorado Springs is excited to offer these positions and thankful to El Pomar’s trustees for their support of our programs and facilities,” said Karen Palus, parks director. “Realizing how COVID-19 has drastically changed opportunities for summer employment, this funding allows the City to continue to offer positions that build park stewardship and engage with our camp participants.”

“As communities begin to shift their focus from crisis response to recovery, El Pomar’s Trustees are grateful to work with Colorado Springs Parks, Recreation and Cultural Services to fund these summer employment opportunities for youth in the Pikes Peak region,” said Kyle Hybl, El Pomar Foundation President & CEO.
