Air Force Women’s Basketball announced on May 6 that Rynae Rasley has been promoted to Associate Head Coach. Rasley, who previously served as an assistant coach, will enter her fifth season coaching at the Academy and her third year of her second stint with the program in the 2026-27 season.
Rasley’s promotion is significant for the program due to her long-standing involvement and leadership within Air Force basketball. She spent five seasons as head coach at the Air Force Academy Preparatory School between her two terms with the Falcons, helping develop several players who went on to play Division I basketball.
During her time leading the prep school team, Rasley coached seven student-athletes who advanced to join Air Force’s Division I roster. Notable among them are Emily Adams, a Mountain West All-Tournament honoree; Jayda McNabb, Mountain West Defensive Player of the Year; and junior Marissa Hargrave. Collectively, these former prep players have started in 65 Division I games and contributed significantly to setting new records for the program.
As part of Stacy McIntyre’s staff, Rasley played a role during one of Air Force women’s basketball’s most successful periods at the Division I level. In the 2024–25 season, the Falcons achieved their second-best overall record since joining Division I. That year saw Jo Huntimer set a program record with 150 assists and Madison Smith receive both All-Mountain West team honors and an All-Defensive selection. The following season brought further achievements: Air Force secured its first three-win postseason run and made its first-ever bid for a Mountain West Tournament championship. Additionally, Milahnie Perry was named tournament MVP while she and Emily Adams became Air Force’s first two All-Tournament selections.
The Falcons also hosted Women’s National Invitation Tournament (WNIT) games in back-to-back seasons during Rasley’s return—marking historic milestones as postseason basketball was played at Clune Arena for the first time.
