Representative Jeff Crank (CO-05) has voted in support of the Homeland Security Appropriations Act, 2026. The legislation aims to strengthen national security and border protection by allocating resources for law enforcement agencies and other federal entities responsible for homeland defense.
Rep. Crank commented on the vote, stating: “Despite attempts from the Left to defund and attack our law enforcement through the Homeland Security Appropriations Act, House Republicans are working tirelessly to ensure our law enforcement, border patrol, and other vital federal enforcement agencies continue to protect American lives,” said Rep. Crank. “In my home state of Colorado, we have seen the state refuse to cooperate with our federal partners, which endangers our communities. Luckily, in El Paso County, we have a Sheriff who stands with the community and our federal law enforcement officers. I will continue to stand with our local and federal law enforcement and fight back against the Defund the Police Movement.”
The bill is designed to increase efforts against illegal drugs such as fentanyl by providing additional resources for detection and interdiction. It also promotes collaboration between state, local, and federal agencies on immigration enforcement and homeland security tasks.
Additionally, the act ends certain programs believed to encourage illegal immigration and removes funding from initiatives associated with border management activities that are thought to increase unauthorized crossings.
