Representative Jeff Crank (CO-05) has voted in favor of H.R. 6938, the Commerce, Justice, Science; Energy and Water Development; and Interior and Environment Appropriations Act of 2026. The legislation includes funding for several projects in Colorado’s Fifth Congressional District.

Among the funded projects is the purchase of a new rescue vehicle for the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office to replace its current aging vehicle, which responded to more than 275 incidents in the past year. Additional funding will support the replacement of the storm sewer system along Palmer Park Boulevard with reinforced concrete pipes, increased drainage capacity, and more inlets to improve public safety and infrastructure. The University of Colorado Colorado Springs will also receive state-of-the-art computer equipment for its Cybersecurity Program and Cyber Engineering Labs to help train future cyber professionals who serve local military installations and businesses.

“My office has secured numerous funding for projects here in Colorado’s Fifth Congressional District,” said Rep. Jeff Crank. “I am pleased that these three projects will help keep our community safe and protect law enforcement, bolster our students’ cybersecurity potential, and advance our infrastructure in the district. I look forward to seeing these projects passing the Senate in the Appropriations bill and being signed into law by President Trump.”

El Paso County Sheriff Joseph Roybal expressed appreciation for securing funds for a new Tactical Armored Vehicle: “On behalf of my Office and the citizens of Colorado’s 5th Congressional District, I extend my sincere gratitude to Congressman Crank for securing critical funding for the purchase of a new Tactical Armored Vehicle,” he said. “This vehicle will support our deputies during high-risk tactical and rescue operations and will also serve as a valuable tool for community education and engagement. Our current Tactical Armored Vehicle has faithfully served the citizens of the Pikes Peak region and our law-enforcement partners for more than two decades and has been deployed during several significant incidents, including the Planned Parenthood shooting and presidential security details during USAFA graduations. My Office remains committed to ensuring public safety, and it is my responsibility to ensure we have the equipment necessary to hold dangerous criminals accountable, protect victims, and safeguard our deputies and first responders when they face life-threatening situations.”

Carrie Geitner, Chair of the El Paso County Board of Commissioners, commented on progress with local infrastructure: “We applaud Congressman Jeff Crank as a proven champion for El Paso County and for his decisive leadership on the Palmer Park Drainage and Improvement Project,” she said. “This project is moving forward because Congressman Crank understands how to deliver results.  His leadership cut through obstacles, built momentum, and drove this project through yet another crucial legislative goalpost.  As a steadfast advocate for our county, Congressman Crank is delivering real progress -strengthening infrastructure, improving public safety, and producing tangible results for the people of El Paso County.”

UCCS Chancellor Jennifer Sobanet addressed investments in cybersecurity education: “We are so appreciative of Congressman Crank and his team for engaging in this critical area and supporting the space and cybersecurity ecosystem across Colorado,” she said. “UCCS is proud to be a nationally recognized leader in cybersecurity education, and this investment will directly contribute to our efforts to prepare our students for the growing needs of the cybersecurity workforce.”
