A four-year-old child was revived with Narcan after being found unresponsive at a residence in the Gleneagle area of unincorporated El Paso County, according to a March 25 statement from the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office. The incident occurred on March 24, when deputies and medical personnel responded to a call at approximately 10:16 AM.
Upon arrival, first responders were directed by the child’s mother, Meghan Anderson, to administer Narcan. Multiple doses were given before the child resumed breathing. Medical staff stabilized the child at the scene and transported them to a local hospital for further treatment.
Afterward, authorities say Anderson became uncooperative with deputies. Detectives obtained and executed a search warrant at the residence, discovering drugs and drug-related paraphernalia inside. Based on evidence collected during their investigation, Anderson was taken into custody and booked into the El Paso County Jail on charges including child abuse, second degree assault, attempted child abuse, and reckless endangerment.
Sheriff Joseph Roybal said, “I commend my deputies and our partner first responders for their swift, decisive actions in this case. Their efforts ensured this child received immediate, life-saving care and that those responsible are being held accountable. Protecting the most vulnerable members of our community—especially our children—remains one of our highest priorities, and we will continue to pursue justice in cases such as this without hesitation.”
Authorities approved an elevated bond of $100,000 due to the severity of circumstances. The Department of Human Services has assumed custody of the child following their transport to hospital.
