Morrell sets personal best as Air Force finishes fifteenth at Loyola Intercollegiate

Senior Brooks Morrell led the Air Force golf team on the final day of the Loyola Intercollegiate at Palm Valley Golf Course in Goodyear, Arizona. Morrell tied his career-best round for the second consecutive day, shooting a two-under-par 70 and making five birdies in the final round. He completed the 54-hole tournament with a score of 214, which is his best collegiate performance over that distance, placing him 30th out of 119 golfers.

Air Force recorded a team score of 290 (+2) in the final round, marking its fourth-best round this season and third-best away from home. Junior Carson Baker finished with a score of 72 and made an eagle on the par-5 second hole. Freshman Ben Zeiler shot a 73 (+1) with three birdies, while junior Eli Huntington and senior Eric Liveringhouse each posted scores of 75. Senior Ted Davenport competed as an individual and finished with a score of 76; both Huntington and Davenport made eagles on the par-5 eleventh hole.

For overall standings in the tournament, Huntington finished at even-par (218), followed by Zeiler at six-over (222), Liveringhouse at 223, Baker at 227, and Davenport at 226 as an individual. The Air Force team tied for fifteenth place with an overall score of eight-over-par (872), which is their best team performance over three rounds since their appearance in the same event in 2024. Richmond won this year’s tournament with a total score of thirty-four under par (830). Loyola Maryland placed second at thirty-one under (833), while Denver took third place at twenty-seven under (837).

Meanwhile, four Falcons are competing individually at The Prestige Tournament held at Terra Lago Golf Club in Indio, California. Junior Grant Samuelson leads among them with a total score of seven-over-par (151) after two rounds. Freshman Aaron Baker stands at 161, sophomore Jackson Scaletta is at 168, and freshman Lincoln Blake is at 170. The final round will begin Wednesday morning.

The Air Force golf team’s next scheduled competition is Bandon Dunes Collegiate from March 8 to March 10 in Bandon, Oregon.
