Air Force Falcons swimming and diving team set two new Academy records on Friday during the Mountain West Championships at CRWC Natatorium in Houston. The team currently holds sixth place with a score of 571.

Head coach Colleen Murphy commented, “We had a great night tonight. We broke two school records and swam a bunch of new top ten times. Our 800 free relay was amazing, the divers took fourth place in the new team diving event, and Naomi Furman crushed her school record again.”

Naomi Furman improved her own 100 breaststroke record, finishing in sixth place with a time of 1:00.70. Senior Maeve Linscott finished 17th with the fifth fastest time for Air Force at 1:02.41, while Mandy Fleetwood followed in 18th at 1:03.08.

The women’s 800 freestyle relay team—Lily Larson, Sadie Hartig, Hannah Seal, and Brynn Bond—set a new program record with a combined time of 7:13.42, breaking a mark that stood for ten years and earning fourth place overall. Larson led off with a split of 1:46.96, marking her as second all-time for Air Force in the 200 freestyle.

In the team diving event, Air Force scored 282.40 points to finish fourth out of ten teams.

During the finals for the women’s 200 butterfly, Natalie Doig placed 11th with a time of 2:00.78, which ranks among the top ten performances for Air Force in this event. Jena Nowoswiat finished in 13th place at 2:02.13.

Kai-Min Tsuei recorded the second fastest time in program history during preliminaries for the women’s 100 backstroke at 54.55 seconds before placing fifteenth in finals with a time of 55.08 seconds. In preliminary heats, Addy Forbes (55.49) and Brynn Bond (55.60) also achieved top ten times for Air Force.

Murphy added, “Our team is swimming fast and having fun; they are having an amazing meet.”

The Falcons will conclude their participation at the Mountain West Championships on Saturday at CRWC Natatorium, beginning with preliminary rounds at 10:30 a.m., followed by finals starting at 6 p.m.
