El Paso County Sheriff’s Office recognized as top fundraiser by Special Olympics Colorado

During the State Kickoff Conference, Special Olympics Colorado awarded Sheriff Joseph Roybal and the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office the Highest Fundraising Agency of 2025. The office raised $61,285.83 through various events, including Top Golf & Chili’s Tip-a-Cop, the Polar Plunge, the Torch Run, and the No-Shave program.

This is not the first time the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office has received this recognition; they were also honored in 2023.

Sheriff Joseph Roybal stated, “On behalf of the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office, it was an honor to be recognized with the Highest Fundraising Agency of 2025 award. Members of our Office—both sworn and professional—consistently demonstrate incredible generosity by giving their time, energy, and resources for the greater good of our community. Whether through the Polar Plunge, Torch Run, Tip-A-Cop, or our No-Shave program, their commitment goes far beyond their daily duties.”

Roybal also thanked Deputies Dukes and Erlemeier for their coordination efforts and acknowledged all volunteers and donors from his office. He added, “Special Olympics Colorado holds a special place in our hearts. We remain proud to support this outstanding organization and the athletes it serves.”

Special Olympics Colorado is a nonprofit that offers sports training, competitions, and health programs for children and adults with intellectual disabilities throughout Colorado. Its programs help athletes develop fitness, confidence, life skills, and social inclusion opportunities at no cost to participants or their families.

Katie Margolis, Law Enforcement Torch Run Event Manager with Special Olympics Colorado said: “Special Olympics Colorado is deeply grateful to Sheriff Roybal and the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office for their incredible presence and support in 2025. From showing up at competitions and community events to raising over $61,000 as our top fundraising law enforcement agency, your commitment directly supports athletes year-round.

“Thank you for always being there for our athletes.”
