The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office celebrated achievements and milestones on Apr. 21 during its 23rd Annual Awards Banquet Ceremony at the Marriott Hotel Colorado Springs.

The event recognized the dedication of sworn, professional, and volunteer staff members, underscoring their ongoing commitment to serving the citizens of El Paso County. Fourteen individuals were honored for reaching 20 years of service, three for marking 25 years, and three for achieving 30 years with the office. Together, these honorees represent more than 445 years of collective service.

Sheriff Joseph Roybal addressed attendees by saying, “This Office is defined by its people and the standard of excellence they uphold every day. Year after year, you meet growing challenges with professionalism, resilience, and integrity—delivering for the community we serve.”

Awards presented during the evening included Medals of Valor to eight sworn recipients; Distinguished Service Awards to seven sworn and two civilian recipients; Achievement Awards to six sworn members, one posse member, and two civilians; Life Saving Medals to six sworn members and two county security officers; Meritorious Service Awards to two sworn personnel and four professional staff members; as well as Community Recognition Awards given to New Life Church and El Paso Teller County 9-1-1 Authority. The Tanya M. Bell Achievement Award and Micah Flick Narcotic Enforcement Award were also presented.

Volunteer Coordinator Hayley Suppes and Detective Marissa Williams received special recognition as Employees of the Year for 2025.

El Paso County Sheriff’s Office used drone technology to help arrest an alleged burglar in Stratmoor Valley. Deputies say real-time updates from above enabled them to intercept the suspect before she left. Officials credit their Drone as First Responder program for improving response times.
