El Paso County Sheriff’s Office arrests former substitute teacher on sexual assault charges

The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office announced on Apr. 13 that its Special Victims Unit arrested a former substitute teacher, William Boden, following an investigation into an alleged inappropriate relationship with a student at James Madison Charter Academy in Colorado Springs.

Detectives began investigating the case on January 5 after receiving a report about the alleged relationship between Boden and a minor. The investigation included multiple interviews and search warrants, leading to evidence of unlawful conduct involving the student.

Boden, age 33, was identified as the suspect and taken into custody on February 19. He was booked into the El Paso County Jail facing several felony charges: Sexual Assault on a Child by One in a Position of Trust, Sexual Exploitation of a Child, Sexual Assault, Internet Sexual Exploitation of a Child, and Unlawful Electronic Sexual Communication – Person in a Position of Trust. Boden was released from jail on March 20 after posting a $25,000 bond.

According to authorities, Boden worked at James Madison Charter Academy from October 31, 2022 through January 2024 as an employee. The Sheriff’s Office stated that this remains an active investigation and encouraged anyone with additional information or who believes they may be affected to contact them at 719-390-5555.

Sheriff Joseph Roybal said: “This case reflects our unwavering commitment to protecting children and pursuing justice for victims. We take these allegations extremely seriously, and our investigators will continue working diligently to ensure anyone who exploits or harms a child is held fully accountable.”

The Sheriff’s Office reiterated its commitment to protecting children and holding those who harm vulnerable community members accountable.
