Air Force Academy senior Brooks Morrell finished in 32nd place at the Jackson T. Stephens Cup, held Tuesday, September 16, at Shoreacres Golf Club in Lake Bluff, Illinois.
Morrell is the fifth member of the Air Force Falcons men’s golf team to participate in this event. Previous participants include Colter Baca (2021), Isaac Layne (2022), Aaron Kuznik (2023), and Cameron Kahle (2024).
The Stephens Cup is a tournament that brings together top collegiate golfers from across the country. This year’s field included six NCAA Division I men’s and women’s teams, along with standout players from service academies and Historically Black Colleges and Universities who competed as individuals.
Morrell completed his three rounds with a total score of 217 (+7) over 54 holes. He opened with a round of 72, followed by a 74 during the second round on the same day. In his final round, Morrell shot a one-over-par 71, making four birdies. William Sides from SMU finished as the top individual at 203 (-7).
Looking ahead, Morrell will compete again when Air Force hosts the 56th Gene Miranda Falcon Invitational from Saturday to Monday, September 20-22, at Eisenhower Golf Course on the Academy campus. The event consists of both team and individual competitions played on different courses. A total of 23 teams will take part in this three-day tournament beginning at 8:30 am Mountain Time on Saturday.
