Sophomore Alese Banks set a new Air Force record in the women’s long jump on March 21, leading the Falcons track and field team to a strong showing at the Dr. Dan Caprioglio Invitational in Pueblo, Colorado. The team collected seven first-place finishes and made 19 improvements to its all-time standings during the outdoor season opener.
Banks achieved a career-best leap of 5.89 meters (19’4″), becoming only the third jumper in program history to surpass the 19-foot mark. Her performance led a 1-2 finish for Air Force, with junior Kayla Beach finishing second after an outdoor-opening jump of 5.78 meters (18’11¾”). The women’s team also secured top-two finishes in three different jump events, including notable performances by sophomore Morgan Glaser in the high jump and freshman Julie Segroves in the pole vault.
Glaser improved her own No. 2 all-time mark with a winning height of 1.81 meters (5’11¼”), while Segroves became just the fifth Academy vaulter to clear 13 feet outdoors, recording a height of 4.04 meters (13’3″). In total, Air Force women accounted for fourteen improvements to program records across various events.
On the men’s side, senior Jettason Rose and sophomore Asher Jenkins led with first and second place finishes in both the 100-meter and 200-meter sprints. Rose posted a wind-aided time of 10.21 seconds in the 100-meter dash and set a new Senior Class Record with his winning time of 20.38 seconds in the 200-meter dash—the second-fastest time in program history.
Other highlights included sophomore Evan Keefe’s victory in discus throw with a distance of 56.10 meters (184’0″), ranking fourth all-time for Air Force, and freshman Max McFarlane’s win in pole vault at a height of 5.15 meters (16’10¾”). The Falcons also saw multiple athletes earn top-ten placements across track and field events throughout the meet.
The Falcons will continue their season next week as they travel to California for training sessions before competing at UCLA’s Jim Bush Legends Meet on March 27-28.
