Air Force women’s swim & dive heads to Mountain West Championships in Houston

Air Force Academy’s women’s swimming and diving team is set to participate in the Mountain West Conference Championship at the CRWC Natatorium in Houston, Texas, from February 18 to February 21. The Falcons will compete against teams including Colorado State, Fresno State, Grand Canyon, Nevada, New Mexico, San Diego State, San Jose State, UNLV, Washington State, and Wyoming.

The squad will field 20 swimmers and six divers for the event. The championship meet schedule includes preliminary rounds each morning at 10:30 a.m. Central Time and finals in the evenings starting at 6:00 p.m., with various events such as freestyle, medley relays, butterfly, backstroke, breaststroke races, springboard diving, platform diving and relay competitions across four days.

Among Air Force athletes with notable conference times are senior Katie Andrist (500 free: 4:53.03; 1000 free: 10:05.38; 1650 free: 16:43.29), freshman Eliza Black (50 back: 25.49), junior Naomi Furman (50 breast: 28.33; 100 breast: 1:01.07; 200 breast: 2:12.74), freshman Lexi Gregory (3-meter dive: 296.75), freshman Sadie Hartig (500 free: 4:53.18), sophomore Kacey Hu (platform dive: 222.95), sophomore Lily Larson (200 free: 1:47.64), freshman Abby Miller (1650 free:16:55.32), and sophomore Chloe Perkins (3-meter dive:296.35; platform dive:232.90).

In their previous meet before the championships at the First Chance Invitational hosted by Denver—an event without team scoring—the Falcons achieved four top finishes and saw Lily Bachl and Reagan Kampschror receive Mountain West awards for their performances.
