Air Force women’s swimming and diving teams wrapped up a busy weekend, highlighted by a senior recognition ceremony and competitive performances at the Air Force Diving Invitational and Colorado Sprint Championships.
The Falcons honored nine seniors—Katie Andrist, Lily Bachl, Zoe Bresnahan, Hanani Dona, Mandy Fleetwood, Abigail Hardy, Maeve Linscott, Ella Rudik, and Kai-Min Tsuei—for their contributions to the program before competition began.
“Shoutout to our amazing senior class on finishing up their last home meet at USAFA,” said head swimming coach Colleen Murphy. “This group is special and they have done amazing things for the program.”
In diving events, Lexi Gregory secured fourth place on the platform with a finals score of 221.40. Lulu Semakula finished fifth with 215.45 points, while Chloe Perkins placed ninth with 208.60.
The swim team faced Denver University at the Colorado Sprint Championships but fell short with a score of 202-176. The event was organized in an eliminatory format with preliminary, semi-final, and final rounds.
“We would have liked to get the win today, but came up short in the longer events,” explained Murphy. “The 50s strokes were extremely competitive, and it was great watching our team race through each round.”
Freshman Eliza Black led Air Force in the 100 back final with a time of 25.94 seconds. Brynn Bond (26.44) and Kai-Min Tsuei (26.45) took third and fourth place respectively.
Naomi Furman won the 50 breaststroke final in 28.33 seconds; Mandy Fleetwood placed second (28.78), and Maeve Linscott took fourth (29.40).
Murphy added, “Furman and Black had great wins and our relays raced tough. We are looking forward to some great swims next week.”
In other results, Ryan Mills finished second in the 50 free final (23.34), followed by Lily Bachl in third (23.42). Amber Martin (25.44) and Mills (26.05) reached third and fourth place in the 50 fly final.
Sadie Hartig earned fourth place in the 200 IM with a time of 2:07.55; Elizabeth Sistrunk (2:09.12), Hanani Dona (2:09.44), and Ella Rudik (2:10.23) followed.
Both relay teams—the 200 medley relay (1:41.38) and 200 free relay (1:34.02)—finished second.
Next week, Air Force will compete at the Denver First Chance Invitational at El Pomar Natatorium from February 6 to February 7.
