Air Force women’s swim team earns eight podiums at Denver First Chance Invite

The Air Force women’s swimming team concluded the Denver First Chance Invite with eight individual podium finishes on Saturday at El Pomar Natatorium. The event marks the end of the regular season and signals the start of championship competition for the Falcons.

Head coach Colleen Murphy acknowledged the contributions of her senior athletes, stating, “I am so proud of our three seniors who ended their careers at this meet. They have been great leaders and ended their careers on a positive note. They will be missed.”

Senior Lily Bachl secured first place in the 100 freestyle with a time of 51.47 seconds. Teammates Sadie Hartig (51.79), Brynn Bond (51.93), and Kaitlyn Surratt (52.12) finished within the top five.

In the 200 breaststroke, Reagan Kampschror won with a time of 2:20.85, while Jessie McNeil (2:25.29) and Kat Putchinski (2:25.62) took third and fourth places.

Kaitlyn Surratt also claimed victory in the 500 freestyle, finishing in 5:03.98, followed by Zoe Bresnahan in second place. Kyie Landry (5:13.24) and Yvy La (5:15.32) completed the top five.

The team earned silver in the 200 freestyle relay as Ryan Mills, Eliza Black, Lily Larson, and Bachl posted a combined time of 1:33.47.

Freshmen Kyie Landry (2:03.84) and Natalie Doig (2:04.11) finished third and fourth respectively in the 200 backstroke.

Jena Nowoswiat (57.01), Maeve Linscott (57.21), and Abigail Hardy (57.22) placed third through fifth in the 100 butterfly.

Brynn Bond earned bronze in the 200 individual medley with a time of 2:06.28; Sadie Hartig finished fifth at 2:06.40 to close out Air Force’s participation at this meet.

The Falcons will next compete at the Mountain West Championship Meet from February 19-21 at CRWC Natatorium in Houston, Texas.
