Air Force Academy’s women’s swim and dive team is set to host a series of meets at the Cadet Natatorium. The Falcons will compete against Northern Colorado in a dual meet on Friday, January 9, followed by a Mountain West tri-meet with Colorado State and New Mexico on Saturday, January 10.
The event schedule begins Friday at 5 p.m. MT with events including the 400 Medley Relay, various freestyle distances, backstroke, breaststroke, butterfly races, diving competitions on both the 3-meter and 1-meter boards, individual medleys, and relays. On Saturday at 11 a.m. MT, similar events are planned for the tri-meet.
Spectators without Department of Defense identification cards must obtain a visitor pass to access the base. This year introduces a new process: passes are now issued monthly rather than per event. Ticket holders need only complete one form each month to attend all scheduled athletic events during that period.
Several Air Force athletes have posted notable times this season within the Mountain West Conference rankings. Senior Katie Andrist holds top-10 conference times in three distance freestyle events: eighth in the 500 free (4:53.03), sixth in the 1000 free (10:05.38), and fifth in the 1650 free (16:43.29). Junior Kate Cooper is ranked eighth on platform diving with a score of 157.50 points.
Other key performers include junior Naomi Furman—eighth in the conference for the 100 breaststroke (1:01.07) and seventh for the 200 breaststroke (2:12.74)—and sophomore Kacey Hu who ranks ninth on the one-meter board (282.80) and seventh on platform (185.05). Freshman Sadie Hartig is tenth in the conference for her time of 4:53.18 in the 500 free.
Sophomore Lily Larson holds eighth place in the conference for her time of 1:47.86 in the 200 free while freshman Abby Miller has recorded a CSCAA B standard time of 16:55.32 in the mile swim.
At their last competition—the CSCAA College National Open Water Swim held December 13 in Sarasota, Florida—four Air Force swimmers participated among over one hundred competitors from across collegiate programs nationwide; Abby Miller was top finisher for Air Force at fourteenth overall with a time under an hour.
After these home meets conclude, Air Force will travel to Seattle University for another competition scheduled Friday, January 16.
