Air Force women’s soccer will return to Cadet Soccer Stadium after five consecutive away games. The team, currently holding a 1-3-2 record, is set to face the University of Colorado Colorado Springs (UCCS) Mountain Lions (2-1-1) on Tuesday, September 16 at 6 p.m. MT.
The match will be available for viewing on the Mountain West Network, and live statistics will be provided through StatBroadcast.
Access to the U.S. Air Force Academy continues to require procedures for visitors without Department of Defense identification. This year, passes are being issued monthly rather than per event, allowing ticket holders to complete the access form once per month for all events during that period. After registering, individuals receive a message on their phone to present at the gate along with game tickets. Attendees can enter through either the North or South gate, with the North gate recommended for access to athletic fields.
Historically, Air Force has faced UCCS only once in preseason play, resulting in a 0-0 overtime draw on August 23, 2009.
In their most recent match on September 7 against Eastern Washington University (EWU), Air Force drew 2-2. Zahra Friess scored her first collegiate goal in the first half. EWU equalized early in the second half and then took a brief lead before Annika Jost tied the game at 2-2 following an assist from captain Raine Komata.
Air Force averages 1.17 goals per game with seven total goals this season and takes an average of nearly 15 shots per game. Annika Jost leads the team with five points from two goals and one assist; Chase Borntreger follows with three points.
On defense, Jordan Dillingham has played a team-high 497 minutes alongside captains Samantha Sharp and Raine Komata. In goal, freshman Trishelle Lopez has started four games with an .750 save percentage and was recognized as USAFA’s Cadet Athlete of the Week after her shutout performance against Rutgers. Kylie McElroy has also recorded a shutout this season.
Within Mountain West Conference statistics, Air Force is tied for seventh in shots taken and ranks sixth in both goals per game and saves. Lopez is ranked fourth in conference saves per game and stands at No. 79 nationally.
UCCS comes into the match after a win over St. Edward’s and has scored ten goals across four matches this season—averaging 2.5 goals per game—with Abby Stassi leading offensively at nine points from four goals and one assist.
After facing UCCS, Air Force will host Northern Colorado on Friday, September 19 at Cadet Soccer Stadium where they will debut new uniforms representing the United States Space Force.
