Air Force women’s soccer achieved its first Mountain West Conference victory of the season with a 2-1 win over Utah State at Cadet Soccer Stadium on Thursday evening. The Falcons now hold a record of 3-5-2 overall and 1-1 in conference play, while Utah State stands at 4-5-3 overall and 1-1-1 in the Mountain West.

Annika Jost opened the scoring for Air Force in the eighth minute after AJ Heap delivered a cross into the box that Ellie McCarron directed to Jost, who finished with a chip over Utah State’s goalkeeper. The Falcons maintained their lead through halftime.

In the second half, Kendall Rippley extended Air Force’s advantage in the 55th minute. Her initial shot was blocked by a defender, but she capitalized on the rebound to score, putting Air Force up 2-0.

Utah State responded with a goal in the 65th minute to narrow the margin. However, Air Force held its ground defensively for the remainder of the match. Goalkeeper Trishelle Lopez made three saves during the game.

The Falcons will continue their home stand by hosting Boise State on Sunday, October 5 at 1 p.m. MT.
