Air Force Women’s Gymnastics finished in third place with a score of 194.225 at the Boise State quad meet on Jan. 30, competing against Utah State and Sacramento State at ExtraMile Arena.
The result highlights both the team’s performance and individual achievements, most notably junior gymnast Maggie Slife’s continued success. Slife earned her fourth consecutive all-around title with a score of 39.475, matching the second-best individual all-around score in Air Force history, previously set by Jessica Liegl in 2004. She also secured at least a share of first place in all four events during the meet and was responsible for the only two scores above 9.900.
The Falcons began on balance beam, earning a team total of 48.475 points. Slife led with a score of 9.825 to tie for first place, while Alyssa Bigler and Kylee Greene contributed scores that placed them sixth and eleventh respectively among competitors on beam.
On floor exercise, Air Force achieved its second-best team event score of the evening with a total of 48.925 points. Gracie Willis tied her career high with a score of 9.850, Greene set a new personal best at 9.875 to tie for second place, and Slife capped off rotation two by scoring a meet-leading 9.900.
Vault saw Air Force post a total of 48.625 points; Greene tied for third with her vault routine while Slife shared first place after scoring a team-high mark alongside Utah State’s Nyla Morabito.
The Falcons concluded their night on uneven bars where they scored 48.200 as a team; Slife finished as the final competitor for Air Force by tying the program record on bars with an individual mark of 9.950—a record she shares from earlier this season along with Anna Salamone (2019).
Head coach Jennifer Green commented after the competition: “We didn’t perform to our potential. We had a lot of mental errors and plenty of opportunities missed.” Green said there were last minute changes in lineups but added: “I feel like they rose to the occasion tonight for us.” She continued: “We will go back home and focus on details. We have to learn how to compete on the road like we do at home.” On Maggie Slife’s ongoing success Green said: “Maggie performed like she does every day – consistency is the key to success and she has found it. I’m always very proud to watch her work.”
Looking ahead, Air Force Women’s Gymnastics will return home to Cadet West Gym on Feb. 6 where they are scheduled to host Utah State and Alaska Anchorage.
