Air Force Women’s Basketball will resume Mountain West Conference play against San Diego State on Wednesday, December 31. The game is scheduled for 2 p.m. MT at Viejas Arena in San Diego, California.
The Falcons enter the matchup with a record of 7-5 overall and 1-1 in conference play. Their last outing resulted in a 61-45 win over Nevada on December 21, where they posted one of their best shooting performances this season. Air Force made nine out of eighteen three-point attempts and held Nevada to just 26 percent shooting from the field.
Senior Milahnie Perry led the team with 16 points and surpassed Pat Swanke for sixth place on Air Force’s all-time career scoring list. Junior Keelie O’Hollaren contributed ten points, while freshman Bhret Clay added eight. In addition to offensive production, the Falcons led Nevada in multiple statistical categories including rebounds (38), assists (15), steals (five), and points off turnovers (21).
Perry currently averages 16.1 points per game, which is second-best among Mountain West players this season. She has accumulated 1,437 career points and is approaching several program scoring records with eighteen regular-season games remaining.
Junior Jayda McNabb continues to be a key contributor for Air Force. This season she leads the Mountain West in offensive rebounding at five per game and ranks second in total rebounding with an average of 8.8 per contest. McNabb has recorded four double-doubles so far, more than any other player in the conference.
As a team, Air Force ranks second in the Mountain West for offensive rebounds per game (13.1), turnovers forced per game (19), and turnover margin (+3.58). They are also third in steals per game (9.92). In their first two conference games, they have limited opponents to under 29 percent shooting from three-point range.
Recent trends show that Air Force has won four out of its last five games by out-rebounding opponents during that stretch. The team remains undefeated at home this season with a 4-0 record.
The upcoming contest against San Diego State marks an opportunity for Air Force to continue building on its strong start to the season as it faces an Aztecs squad that is currently undefeated in conference play.
