The Air Force Falcons began the Credit Union 1 Mountain West Indoor Track and Field Championships in Reno with strong performances, highlighted by record-breaking results from their women’s pentathlon athletes.

Sophomore Morgan Glaser set a new Air Force record in the women’s pentathlon, scoring 3752 points and finishing sixth among 18 competitors. This performance surpassed the previous school record by more than 150 points. Glaser also set the second-best high jump and sixth-fastest hurdles times in Academy history. In the high jump, she cleared 1.84 meters (6’0½”), becoming only the second Air Force woman to clear six feet and breaking a decade-old class record. Glaser also won her first-ever 800-meter run with a time of 2:22.12.

Kayla Beach, a junior, finished eighth in the pentathlon with 3722 points, improving her own previous program record by 128 points. Her long jump of 5.91 meters (19’4¾”) was the second-best in Academy history and broke last year’s junior class record. Beach also recorded one of the fastest hurdles times for Air Force and matched her personal best in the high jump.

Sophomore Sarah Reynolds completed the trio’s historic showing by improving her personal best to 3634 points, placing all three current multi-event athletes at the top of Air Force’s all-time standings for the event.

The Falcons also secured their first medal of this year’s championships when juniors Scarlet Fetterolf, Rachel Fereday, Anna Harden, and sophomore Ella Pears finished third in the women’s distance medley relay with a time of 11:35.25—an altitude-adjusted mark that ranks fourth all-time for Air Force.

In field events, freshman Julie Segroves cleared a career-best height of 13’1″ (3.99 meters) in pole vault to finish sixth out of nineteen competitors—the highest placement for a conference freshman this year. Junior Karli Neff achieved a personal best as well, moving up on Air Force’s all-time list.

On the track, sophomore Saketh Rudraraju placed fourth in the men’s 5000-meter run with an altitude-adjusted time that broke Air Force’s sophomore class record and became third-fastest overall for the program. Seniors Zach Ayers and Max Sannes followed closely behind, both improving their rankings among Academy runners.

The men’s distance medley relay team—senior Ethan Ashley, juniors Ryan Hajek and Jonah Hochstetler, and sophomore Junior Allen—finished fourth with an altitude-adjusted time that moved them into seventh place on Air Force’s all-time list.

In preliminary sprints action, senior Jettason Rose advanced to the finals after running a personal best of 20.82 seconds in the men’s 200-meter dash—the second-fastest time ever for an Air Force athlete—and sophomore Asher Jenkins qualified as well with another top-10 program mark.

Heptathlete Wyatt Curl returned from injury to post career-best marks across four events on Day One, currently sitting seventh overall going into Friday’s conclusion.

After Thursday’s events, Air Force men stand second overall while women are fourth heading into day two at Reno-Sparks Convention Center. The meet continues tomorrow starting at 11:30 a.m., streamed live on Mountain West Network.
