Air Force Women’s Basketball lost to Northern Colorado 79-72 in the opening round of the 2026 Women’s National Invitational Tournament, according to a March 19 announcement. The game took place at the U.S. Air Force Academy, where the Falcons mounted a late rally but ultimately fell short.
The matchup was significant as it marked the end of a historic postseason run for Air Force. Despite their efforts, the Falcons were unable to overcome Northern Colorado’s lead in the final minutes of play.
Junior Keelie O’Hollaren led Air Force with 15 points, while senior Emily Adams and junior Jordyn Devaughn each contributed 10 points. The first quarter saw three lead changes before Northern Colorado pulled ahead with a six-point advantage. O’Hollaren sparked a comeback early in the second quarter, but UNC regained control and extended its lead to 48-33 by halftime.
In the third quarter, Air Force outscored Northern Colorado and narrowed the gap several times, but UNC maintained its edge heading into the final period. The Falcons rallied again in the fourth quarter, coming within one point at 71-70 with less than four minutes remaining thanks to contributions from O’Hollaren, Jayda McNabb—Mountain West Defensive Player of the Year—and freshman Julia Leach. However, UNC responded by outscoring Air Force down the stretch to secure their win.
Despite the loss, Air Force led in several statistical categories including free throw percentage (.769), three-pointers made (eight) and attempted (25), points off turnovers (21), offensive rebounds (14), second-chance points (10), and bench points (26).
The conclusion of this game ends Air Force’s postseason journey for this year.
