Air Force defeated Fresno State in women’s volleyball at the USAF Academy on November 8, improving their season record to 14-12 overall and 6-8 in Mountain West play. The Falcons secured a 3-1 match victory with set scores of 25-13, 25-27, 25-20, and 25-22.
Senior Ashley Bible led Air Force with a career-high 22 kills and contributed a team-high 12 digs for her seventh double-double of the year. She also served one ace and committed only three errors on 41 attempts, finishing with a .463 hitting percentage. “Accounting for her third 20-kill performance of the year, Bible was nearly unstoppable on Saturday – tallying just three errors on 41 swings during her match-high 22-kill outing for a season-high .463 performance. The senior also recorded one of the team’s seven aces and tallied a team-high 12 digs for her seventh double-double of the year.”
Sophomore Alysa Walker added to the effort with 19 kills, an ace, and nine digs. Grace Fiaseu contributed seven kills while hitting .462 and led the team with five assisted blocks. Freshman Sam Pope recorded two aces and reached a personal milestone with her first career match surpassing thirty assists (31).
The Falcons started strong in the opening set, building an early lead that resulted in a decisive win. Fresno State responded by taking the second set after overcoming several Air Force leads. In sets three and four, Air Force regained control through contributions from multiple players including Alex Hatchett, Sonia Okpara, Brooksie Isham, Jordan Suan, Mia Loyd, and others.
With this result and an earlier win against Fresno State this season in Fresno, Air Force completed its third season sweep over the Bulldogs as conference opponents since joining Division I (previous sweeps occurred in 2017 and 2023).
Air Force will remain at home to finish its regular-season schedule against Grand Canyon University on November 13 and New Mexico on November 15.
