Air Force volleyball hosts San Jose State and Fresno State for final homestand

The Air Force volleyball team is set to begin its final homestand of the season at the Academy, hosting San Jose State on Thursday, November 6, and Fresno State on Saturday, November 8. Both matches will take place at Cadet East Gym, with Thursday’s game scheduled for 6:00 p.m. MT and Saturday’s contest starting at 1:00 p.m. MT. Tickets are available through GoAirForceFalcons.com, and the Academy’s Clear Bag Policy will be enforced during both events. Live statistics will be provided by StatBroadcast.

Entry to the Air Force Academy for athletic events requires a Department of Defense identification card or a visitor pass for those without one. Information on obtaining a visitor pass can be found online.

San Jose State enters Thursday’s match with a season record of 10-13 overall and 5-7 in conference play. The Spartans are currently ranked third in the Mountain West Conference for digs per set (15.20) and sixth in opponent hitting percentage (.203). Last week, they lost road matches against Wyoming (1-3) and Colorado State (2-3).

Fresno State comes into the week with a 6-17 overall record and a 2-9 mark in Mountain West action. The Bulldogs recently fell to Colorado State (0-3) and Wyoming (1-3). Addison Haluska leads Fresno State as well as the conference in kills per set (4.48) and points per set (5.01).

Historically, Air Force trails San Jose State with a 7-19 all-time record after being swept by the Spartans last month at Spartan Gym. Six of Air Force’s seven wins over San Jose State have come at home in Cadet East Gym. Against Fresno State, Air Force has evened its all-time series at 14 wins each following a recent victory at Save Mart Center; the Falcons hold a strong home record against Fresno State with ten wins out of thirteen meetings.

In conference statistics, Alex Hatchett ranks second in hitting percentage (.388) during league play while Jordan Suan stands third in digs per set (3.88). Ashley Bible is fifth among conference players in kills per set (3.66). As a team, Air Force ranks second in aces per set (1.44), fourth in digs per set (15.14), fifth in blocks per set (2.47), and fifth in opponent hitting percentage (.202).

After this weekend’s matches, Air Force will conclude its home schedule next week against Grand Canyon on November 13 and New Mexico on November 15.
