The Air Force track and field team will start its outdoor season on March 20-21 at the Dr Dan Caprioglio Invitational, which will be held at Thunderbowl Stadium in Pueblo.
This event marks the beginning of the Falcons’ 2026 outdoor campaign, giving athletes an opportunity to compete early in the season. The meet is set to feature a full schedule of events over two days, with live results available through Rapid Results and tickets for spectators available online.
Most competitions will take place inside CSU Pueblo’s Thunderbowl Stadium, while throwing events are scheduled across the street near Art and Lorraine Gonzales Stadium. Friday’s events include the triple jump, hammer throw, and javelin throw. Saturday will see a range of running and field events such as the 10,000-meter run, shot put, discus throw, pole vault, steeplechase, relays, hurdles, high jump, sprints, and distance races. Women will compete first in all running events.
Eight members of the Air Force squad are from Colorado. These athletes represent cities including Monument (Matthew Edwards), Breckenridge (Dominykas Remeikis and Josh Shriver), Cascade (Cody Kelley), Denver (Ryan Hajek), Glenwood Springs (Ella Johnson), Highlands Ranch (Jayden Nats), and Longmont (Ella Pears).
The roster features several accomplished returners: one All-American (Texas Tanner in hammer throw), eight NCAA qualifiers across various disciplines including Morgan Glaser (high jump) and India Jones (10,000-meter run), Mountain West record holders like Tanner in hammer throw, Air Force record holders Kayla Beach (long jump/heptathlon) and Tanner again for discus/hammer throws. There are also Mountain West champions such as Tanner in discus/hammer throws and Asher Jenkins in relay events.
Coaching staff for this season includes Ryan Cole as Director of Track & Field and Cross Country in his fourth year leading the program alongside Head Coach Scott Steffan. They are joined by assistant coaches Laura Bowerman for women’s middle distance/distance runners; Kyle Lillie for throws; newcomer Dan Stoll for sprints/hurdles; with support from former coaches Scott Irving and Mark Stanforth as well as former Falcons AJ Kedge and Michelle Roca.
Looking ahead after this weekend’s invitational meet in Pueblo, the Falcons plan to travel to California during spring break for training sessions before competing at UCLA’s Jim Bush Legends Meet from March 27-29.
