Air Force will host Mercyhurst in a two-game Atlantic Hockey Association (AHA) series at the Cadet Ice Arena on February 13 and 14. The first game is scheduled for Friday at 7:07 pm MT, while the second will take place on Saturday at 5:05 pm MT.
Friday’s matchup will be televised on AltitudeTV, with both games available to stream via FloHockey. Radio coverage can be found on XtraSports 1300 AM and xtrasports1300.com, and live statistics will be provided by StatBroadcast.
Air Force enters the series with a record of 14-12-2 overall and 10-9-1 in conference play. The team is coming off a split series at Niagara. Mercyhurst holds a record of 4-22-2 overall and 4-14-1 in the AHA, having recently split their series against Sacred Heart.
The Falcons are led by head coach Frank Serratore, who has a school record of 486-469-104 over his 29 years at Air Force and an overall career record of 535-561-113 across 33 seasons. Mercyhurst’s head coach Rick Gotkin is in his 38th year with the Lakers, posting a school and career record of 615-572-111.
In their all-time series, Air Force leads Mercyhurst with a record of 30 wins, 20 losses, and five ties since their first meeting in 2007 as members of Atlantic Hockey. Air Force has won five out of the last six matchups between the teams. The Falcons swept Mercyhurst in their previous meeting at the Academy on November 15–16, 2024. At home, Air Force has won seven straight games against Mercyhurst and is unbeaten in its last eight encounters at Cadet Ice Arena. The Lakers’ last victory at Air Force came in 2018.
Mercyhurst currently sits in tenth place within the AHA standings with eleven points. Since January 9, they have achieved four wins—including victories over Army, Niagara (twice), and Sacred Heart—and one tie against RIT. Last weekend saw them lose to Sacred Heart in game one before securing a comeback win in game two with goals from Alexander Dimitriadis and Chris Kocsis after trailing entering the third period.
Freshman Will Schumacher leads Mercyhurst with eight goals and thirteen points this season; four players have reached double digits in points. In goal, freshman Charles-Edward Gravel has started most games this season but senior Salvatore Evola made an impact last weekend by stopping twenty-six shots out of twenty-seven faced during their win over Sacred Heart.
