Air Force Academy’s swimming and diving teams are set to host Grand Canyon University in a two-day meet from Friday, October 31 to Saturday, November 1. The event will begin at 5 p.m. Mountain Time on Friday at the U.S. Air Force Academy.
The women’s team will face Grand Canyon as part of their Mountain West Conference schedule. Both swim and dive competitions will be available for live updates through MeetMobile and DiveMeets, but there will be no live stream due to the ongoing government shutdown.
Access to the Air Force Academy remains open; however, visitors without Department of Defense identification must obtain a visitor pass. This year, passes are being issued monthly rather than per event, allowing ticket holders to attend multiple events with a single submission each month.
The competition schedule includes several relay and individual events across both days. On Friday evening, races such as the 200 Medley Relay and 400 IM will take place. Saturday morning features longer-distance swims like the 1000 Free and concludes with relays.
Several Air Force athletes currently hold top ten times in their respective conferences this season. For the men in the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF), Louie Body is ranked third in the 200 backstroke while Brandon Cho leads the conference in the 200 breaststroke with a CSCAA B standard time. Joe Christ has posted strong results in sprint freestyle events, ranking seventh in both the 50 and 100 free.
Other notable performances include Lucas Gerten holding second place on both one-meter and three-meter diving boards, Bridon Rosales leading MPSF in both the 50 and 100 breaststroke events, and Evan Witte ranking second in the mile (1650 free).
On the women’s side within Mountain West rankings, Katie Andrist is seventh in the mile (1650 free), Lily Larson holds fourth place in the 200 free, while Chloe Perkins leads on platform diving with her first-place score this season.
In their last meet on October 18 at Cadet Natatorium, both Air Force men’s and women’s teams recorded dual wins over Denver and Wyoming but lost to nationally ranked LSU squads. Senior James Winterfield was a standout for the men by scoring points across multiple events; Bridon Rosales won the 100 breaststroke; freshman Brandon Cho claimed victory in his specialty event with another CSCAA B standard time.
For the women, Lily Larson scored highest for Air Force by winning her main event—the 200 free—and collecting additional medals. Diver Lulu Semakula matched Larson’s point total by winning on one-meter springboard while freshman Sadie Hartig achieved a CSCAA B standard time en route to victory in backstroke.
The upcoming meet against Grand Canyon provides another opportunity for Falcon swimmers and divers to improve their standings ahead of championship season.
