Air Force swimmers secure multiple top finishes on opening day of Denver invite

The Air Force men’s swimming and diving team finished the first day of competition at the Denver First Chance Invite on Friday, held at El Pomar Natatorium. The Falcons recorded 18 top five finishes throughout the evening.

Brandon Cho began the meet with a second-place result in the 400 IM, posting a time of 4:02.50. Teammates Anthony Sebastian (4:05.56) and Ralph Fiscus (4:05.96) also placed among the top five in the event.

In the 100 backstroke, Matthew Doty secured another silver medal for Air Force with a time of 49.02, while senior Louie Body took fifth place at 49.79.

Air Force had strong performances in the 100 breaststroke, taking spots two through five. Bridon Rosales led this group with a time of 54.43, followed by Tanner Wilson (54.97), Jacob Duckworth (55.16), and Sebastian (55.18).

James Winterfield achieved a second-place finish in the 200 butterfly with a time of 1:47.73, while Jonas Dark came in fourth at 1:49.42.

Freshman Jordan Falls was runner-up in the 50 freestyle, finishing with a time of 20.27 seconds, and Joe Christ took fifth place at 20.78.

Tyler Surratt earned third place in the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:39.96; Christ finished fifth at 1:40.15.

In distance events, Surratt added another third-place finish in the 1650 freestyle with a time of 16:07.98. Tucker Rice (16:08.00) and Fiscus (16:42.17) completed Air Force’s showing by placing fourth and fifth respectively.

The Falcons are scheduled to return to competition on Saturday, February 7 at 10 a.m., concluding their pre-championship season.
