The Air Force Falcons swimming and diving teams will travel to Provo, Utah, for a tri-meet against BYU and Colorado Mesa. The event is scheduled for Friday, January 23 at 5 p.m. MT and Saturday, January 24 at 11 a.m. MT at the Richards Building Pool. Live results will be available through MeetMobile and SwimCloud.
The meet will feature both men’s and women’s competitions in swimming and diving across a variety of events over two days. The schedule includes relays, individual medleys, freestyle races of varying distances, backstroke, breaststroke, butterfly events, as well as diving from different heights.
For the women’s team, several athletes currently hold top times in the Mountain West Conference (MW). Katie Andrist has posted notable results in distance freestyle events while Naomi Furman has achieved high rankings in breaststroke. Other team members such as Kate Cooper, Kacey Hu, Lily Larson, Abby Miller, Chloe Perkins and Lulu Semakula are also among conference leaders in their respective disciplines.
Last weekend’s competition saw the Air Force women defeat Seattle U with a score of 208-54. The Falcons recorded ten individual first-place finishes and broke four facility records during that meet. “The 200 medley relay team of Kai-Min Tsuei, Naomi Furman, Amber Martin, and Ryan Mills broke the first record of the evening (1:42.48) and were followed by Abby Miller in the 1000 free (10:11.01), Furman in the 100 breast (1:02.16), and the 400 free relay team comprised of Mills, Lily Bachl, Hannah Seal, and Lily Larson (3:26.05).”
On the men’s side, athletes such as Louie Body (backstroke), Brandon Cho (breaststroke), Joe Christ (freestyle), Lucas Gerten (diving), Tanner Wilson (breaststroke) and James Winterfield (butterfly/IM) are ranked highly within the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF). Multiple swimmers have achieved NCAA qualifying marks or top-ten conference times this season.
In their most recent outing last weekend against Seattle U., Air Force men earned their fifth consecutive dual win with a score of 176-86. Eight individual victories were recorded by Falcon swimmers; Tyler Surratt, Jordan Falls, James Winterfield and Tanner Wilson each won two events apiece. “In addition to his wins,” states the release about Wilson’s performance at Seattle U., “Wilson etched his name into the Redhawk Center record book with a pair of top facility times in the 100 breast (54.11) and the 200 breast (1:58.63).”
After this road meet concludes their away dual season schedule for this year’s campaign,the Falcons will host several upcoming home events. These include hosting the Air Force Diving Invitational from Thursday January 29 through Saturday February 1 along with participation in Colorado Sprint Championships on February 1 which will also feature senior day recognition.
