Air Force will host Army West Point at Falcon Stadium in Colorado Springs on Saturday, November 1, for their eighth game of the season. The Falcons currently have a record of 2-5 overall and 1-4 in Mountain West play, while Army enters the matchup with a 3-4 record and is 2-3 in the American Athletic Conference.
The rivalry between Air Force and Army dates back to 1959. Air Force leads the all-time series with a record of 38-20-1. At home, the Falcons hold a significant advantage, having won 22 out of 26 games against Army at Falcon Stadium. In Commander-in-Chief’s Trophy (CIC) games—contested annually among Air Force, Army, and Navy—Air Force has won 35 out of 53 matchups against Army since the trophy’s inception in 1972.
Army’s last visit to Falcon Stadium was in 2019 when Air Force secured a narrow victory. Recent games between these teams have also taken place at neutral sites such as Arlington, Texas (2021), and Denver’s Empower Field (2023). Last season, Army defeated Air Force at West Point by a score of 20-3.
In their most recent game on October 18, Air Force broke a five-game losing streak by defeating Wyoming at home, finishing with a score of 24-21. Quarterback Liam Szarka led the team with his fifth consecutive game rushing for over one hundred yards—a new school record for quarterbacks—while Owen Allen added another hundred-yard performance on the ground.
With this win over Wyoming, Air Force improved its home record to two wins and two losses this season. The Falcons extended their national lead for consecutive games with at least one hundred yards rushing to ninety-two straight contests.
Army comes into this weekend’s contest after an open week following a loss to Tulane. Under head coach Jeff Monken—now in his twelfth season—the Black Knights are known for their strong running attack and currently rank fourth nationally in rushing yards per game. Quarterback Cale Hellums leads Army both on the ground and through limited passing attempts.
If victorious against Army this Saturday, Air Force would improve its all-time series lead to thirty-nine wins against twenty losses and one tie; it would also mark their second consecutive win overall this season. Additionally, it would give them their first Commander-in-Chief’s Trophy victory since beating Navy in 2023.
The winner of each year’s CIC competition receives recognition at the White House from the President of the United States—a tradition now entering its fifty-fourth year. To date, Air Force has claimed twenty-one CIC titles—the most among service academies—and holds an overall best record in trophy games.
