Air Force will face Colorado State in its final game of the season on Friday, November 28 at Canvas Stadium in Fort Collins. This is the only non-Saturday game for Air Force this year. The two teams will compete for the Ram-Falcon Trophy, a tradition that began in 1980 and marks its 45th year in 2025. Air Force currently leads the trophy series with a record of 28-17.
The overall series between Air Force and Colorado State stands at 39-22-1 in favor of Air Force, including a 28-16 advantage in conference games. The Falcons have won four straight games against Colorado State in Fort Collins since 2017. Last season, however, Colorado State defeated Air Force at Falcon Stadium, ending a seven-game losing streak to the Falcons.
In their last meeting in Fort Collins on October 28, 2023, Air Force secured a 30-13 victory over Colorado State. Dane Kinamon and Zac Larrier connected for an early touchdown pass before the Rams tied the game with a long touchdown play. Bo Richter made a key defensive play with a strip sack and fumble recovery that set up another score for Air Force. Emmanuel Michel led the Falcons’ rushing attack with 130 yards and one touchdown on 20 carries. The defense held Colorado State scoreless in the second half.
Last week, Air Force lost to New Mexico by a score of 20-3 at Falcon Stadium. New Mexico’s win snapped a ten-game losing streak at Falcon Stadium dating back to 2000. The Lobos limited Air Force to season lows of 161 total yards and just 110 rushing yards but allowed the Falcons to extend their national-best streak of consecutive games with at least 100 rushing yards to 96.
Team captains for last week’s game were Cade Harris (wide receiver), Coston Cooley (center), Bruin Fleischmann (tight end), and Payton Zdroik (defensive lineman). Junior quarterback Kempher Hodges made his first career start, gaining fifty yards on twenty carries—both career highs—and junior linebacker Blake Fletcher recorded eleven tackles to bring his season total to over one hundred.
The Ram-Falcon Trophy was created by Shelly Godkin, a former ROTC commander at Colorado State who attended the teams’ matchup in 1978 and wanted to establish an annual symbol for their rivalry.
Air Force has consistently held opponents under twenty-one points this season in four out of their last five games but struggled offensively against New Mexico last week.
